Castle in Berat & Legends

Before we arrived in Berat, we heard the legend of this place from the person who is driving us across Albania.  Our hotel even has a wall dedicated to the tale, so am posting below:

The castle of Berat sits on the top of the mountain overlooking the old town, where the buildings full of windows seem to creep up the hillside.  The castle is quite large, with a museum, several churches and a resident population of 20 families.  On a single street in the castle we saw a wedding party taking photos, children coming home from school for lunch, a man riding a horse and a car driving the narrow passageway.  A very pleasant way to pass the time.

I may try to write out the legend & post it if folks are interested.

That legend is mythical and lotsa fun! A little cheap psycho-analysis is called for and the lesson seems rather obvious. Wonder if the full version is available in English that has more complexity and nuance, hmm.

In this version the pretty young woman is a fairy (so some supernatural messing about in the affairs of humans?) link here https://elitetravel-albania.com/the-legend-of-berat-two-mountains-and-a-river/

Wonder if anyone has done a book of Albanian myths and legends. Interesting. Thanks for sharing.
