Camino completed

Santiago!  After walking over 300 miles, the path ends in the square in front of the cathedral here.  A most welcome sight.  Now to enjoy this ancient city before we head toward Madrid.

Camino musing

This space, the Camino path, is fascinating.  It's being in the present, the here & now, without regard to who we are before or afterwards.  Topics of conversation are focused on the physical (blisters, pain, etc) or the process (reflections, insights, arrival in Santiago).
As we head into Santiago at the end of this week, it's hard to believe this trek is almost over.  At the same time, our launch seems like ages ago.  With the exception of Pamplona & Logrono, we have been in a different place every night since September 2.
So, will savor this last week of walking - buen Camino!

Wandering with a lot of pilgrims

We're in the last 100 kms of the Camino, where if you obtain documentation of each day's location along the way and present it in Santiago, you get a compestela.  So naturally I'm in!  What this also means is that there are LOTS of people on the trail going for the same thing.  It's got the feel of a pilgrims' derby at times.
I'm including photos of our albergue today, complete with Glenn's search for bedbugs as we arrive.  Yes, most everyone we meet has been bitten along this path.
Buen Camino!

Lovely Galicia

We have passed into Galicia through the mountains, into the land of working village farms.  There are cows alongside walking pilgrims on the paths that meander through barnyards.  I should probably gather thoughts & reflections as we head into the remaining time on the trail, but it still feels like all I can do is arrive & collapse!  Some days that is about as profound as it gets 😎👣👣

Leaving things behind

One of the highest points on the Camino has a tradition of leaving something behind - a metaphor for many things.  We brought a couple of things to place & remember.
Heading for a knights templar castle tomorrow as we continue to plod along.

Buen Camino
